Thomas Demeester was born in Ghent, Belgium, in 1982. In 2005 he received his M. Sc. degree (summa cum laude) in electrical engineering from Ghent University, Ghent, Belgium, after a one year period at ETH Zurich, where he was involved in the field of time-domain electromagnetics.
In 2009, he obtained his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Ghent University, as a Research Fellow of the Fund for Scientific Research (FWO-V), Flanders. He was a member of the Electromagnetics Group within the Dept. of Information Technology (INTEC), where his research concerned electromagnetic field calculations in the presence of highly lossy media and the development of transmission line models for interconnects.
He currently holds a postdoctoral research position at the Internet Based Communication Networks and Services (IBCN) group, Ghent University, Belgium, where his research involves several aspects in the domain of Information Retrieval and Extraction.
